Still not feeling back to normal weeks after a concussion and resting? Wanting clarification and guidance on what you can do to recover from a concussion?
Our mission is to provide timely, convenient and superior concussion recovery services. By meeting you where you are, we can better customize the treatment and improve your performance doing activities important to you in specific environments. We want to bring the same level of care and concussion education not only to locals and visitors of Summit County, but also to people suffering from concussion nationwide.
WHAT SETS US APART
1 on 1 treatment with a doctor in occupational therapy. At times, a person with a concussion cannot drive or driving can flare up symptoms by the time you reach a clinic or just getting out of bed makes you dizzy. Or you may feel good at home, but then symptoms worsen in more stimulating environments or doing more complex tasks, such as in the grocery store or at school or work. You will receive customized, specific treatment in the setting of your choice and comfort.

ABOUT
Melissa Volkert, OTD, OTR/L, CBIS
Doctor of Occupational Therapy, Certified Brain Injury Specialist
Melissa graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 2007 with a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy. After graduation, she worked in inpatient acute rehabilitation at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs working with patients who sustained traumatic brain injuries, strokes, spinal cord injuries, and other complex, neurological conditions. In 2011, Melissa moved to Summit County. She is the lead occupational therapist at St. Anthony Summit Hospital and works in an outpatient clinic at Vail Summit Physical Therapy specializing in concussions, traumatic and acquired brain injuries. She has facilitated the Summit County Brain Injury Support Group since 2014 and has organized yearly educational conferences for medical providers in Summit County. Melissa has had the honor of working with a wide variety of people who have been affected by concussion from children, student-athletes, professional athletes, working professionals, parents, military/first responders, and older adults.
